Back in my hospitality days, some of my most memorable regulars were a group of charmingly inappropriate retirees—relics from an era of questionable jokes and long, boozy lunches. They’d regale me with tales of “meetings” that began with steaks and ended with cigars, with no intention of returning to the office.

This wine is a nod to what I imagine filled their glasses, before things got overtly oaky and ripe.

A blend of 75% Shiraz and 25% Cabernet from Robe, grown by Russell Mackenzie for the Zanello family, for those who appreciate a long lunch and a longer story.
